First, Downloading and Installing QTM Successfully:[/b]  Cheers updated January 14, 2017 to include dealing with the error message "Unable to load qtm.torrent: torrent is not valid bencoding!"

BEFORE you download and install the most recent version of QTM, you MUST uninstall the OLD version first. In Windows, click on your Start icon, go to the programs group (click All Programs) and scroll to the QuickTorrentMaker folder. Click on the folder icon to expand it, then click on the "uninstall" selection. When asked "Do you really want to uninstall QuickTorrentMaker?" click the "Yes" button, to confirm, and click "Yes" on any following confirmation messages.

NOTE that the graphics below refer to QTM version 1.11, but should be IDENTICAL to version 1.12

Next, {see antivirus notice below} download the QTM installer program from the Main QTM page, {click here}
Click on the button at the bottom of the page.

Please disable your antivirus program during the download and install of QTM.  QTM may set off antivirus warning flags (stupidly) because the QTM program has the function of having you sign in to your membership account here, and enter your password, in order to be a secure program for you and the GayTorrent.ru site. BUT that action is viewed incorrectly as a security breech by some antivirus programs, and thus the download or install of QTM may be blocked, as a result. We can guarantee 100% that there is NO "bad infected program" inside QTM.

When asked "Would you like to save this file?" Click the "Save File" button. Choose a place to save it that you can remember, such as your "Downloads" folder. >>>>NOTE!!! One member has reported that rather than choosing to "Save File", he just clicked on the "Run Program" option... and avoided his antivirus program from complaining and blocking the program!!! Sounds like a good idea! (if it works for you too!) If you just run the install program without saving it first, you would skip the very next step).

Find the "QuickTorrentMaker_1.12.exe" installer program you just downloaded, and doubleclick it to start it running. Click Yes on any Windows confirmation window that pops up.

Then you SHOULD see:

These default settings should work fine, assuming your Windows and uTorrent program is configured in standardized fashion. Make changes only if necessary, then click the "Install" button

You SHOULD get this pop up window:

Click the OK button.

To finish the installation, you need to start the program the first time, and save your user name and password, so subsequent QTM starts are simple one button clicks.

Click on your Windows Start icon, go to the programs group (click All Programs) and scroll to the QuickTorrentMaker folder. Click on the folder icon to expand it, then click on the "QuickTorrentMaker" selection.

THIS window should pop up:

Click the down arrowhead in the "Choose Site" and select "gaytorrent.ru"

Click in the "Login" selection, and type in your member name.

Click in the "Password" selection and carefully enter your password.

Lastly, CHECK the " [_] Remember Login/Password" checkbox, so you never have to do this another time.

NOW it should look like THIS:

Note that it MAY take as many as THREE attempts to log in to QTM, before QTM finally accepts you. Blinking

Click the "Login" button... and SUCCESS!!! You SHOULD see this:

Now, you can refer to the QTM Tutorial --click here-- for further instructions on using QTM.

Note that the next time you start QTM, ALL the site/member name/password information will already filled in for you. You'll only need to click the "Login" button.

------------------------------Additional Notes------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE that in QTM, when you click on Category, there's supposed to be a dropdown list of categories.

If it's blank, exit the program, then go to your antivirus (etc.) software, and include the "QuickTorrentMaker.exe" program in the list of ignored programs.

I did that, and got the category dropdown list to show again.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some members have written the helpdesk, reporting:
Quote
when I try to upload a file using QTM I keep getting an error that says "Unable to load qtm.torrent: torrent is not valid bencoding!"

A solution to this issue may be as follows:

You should try to properly uninstall QuickTorrentMaker: Start menu > All programs > QuickTorrentMaker > uninstall

Then, upon installation, at this window:

...Install QTM into a different directory; the C:\ root directory seems to work well.

...thus you would:Change Choose the Installation Destination into "C:\QuickTorrentMaker"

Then run QTM.exe as administrator.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE: You may have to try as many as 3 times for QTM to accept your login...

Also, your password is case-dependent; make sure your shift lock is not on...

You can test your memory of your password by logging off the main site, then logging back in, but this time, typing in your password manually.

If you need to recover your password from outside the site (IE logged off and can't remember your password), you can go to this link:
https://www.gaytorrent.ru/lostpassword.php

... if all else fails, and you can't seem to log back into the site, you can always send an email to:

problems@gaytorrent.ru
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Numerous members have reported problems with QTM and 64-bit versions of Windows, in addition to Windows 10.

If you are running Windows 10, or any 64-bit version of Windows, and the above mentioned note about adding QTM to your list of ignored programs in your security or antivirus program doesn't help, please use the web-based uploader here:
https://www.gaytorrent.ru/doupload.php

...but take time to read and follow the illustrated instructions here:
https://www.gaytorrent.ru/uploadguide.php

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NEVER click the minimize button on QTM, or you will lose the "Upload" button.

You can click on Windows XP "Show Desktop" icon, (or in Vista or Windows 7, bottom right rectangle of the task bar) to minimize ALL icons, if you need to minimize QTM.

If you accidentally DO forget and minimize QTM, thus losing the "Upload" button, here's the trick to land on the hidden "Upload" button, when you're ready to upload:
1) Click the mouse one time inside the "Displayed Name" field, then
2) Hit the TAB key three times, then
3) Hit enter.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In addition, I'd like to add that QTM has occasionally been reported to have issues when working with large collections; it can have some problems making a correct .torrent file. So, you should probably use the manual upload method, if you run into problems using QTM for uploading your collection. But try QTM first. Please report back HERE in this forum thread, with any issues (such as the possible collections issue) that you DO run into.
----------------------------------------
If, upon selecting the file name of the video file you happen to see a ? (question mark) appear in the file name... STOP.

THEN, using Windows Explorer, while using the English-Language-Keyboard, go back to the folder with the video file, and RENAME the file. (Right-click the file name and select "Rename").

Non-Standard characters in the file name will cause unpredictable results and certain failure, when uploading.

Identifying NON-Standard File name characters can be a bit tricky, because there are SOME NON-Standard characters that LOOK and APPEAR standard, but in fact are from a Foreign Language font, and not supported by QTM.

AFTER you finish the renaming of the video file (using the English-Language-Keyboard to rename the file) then go BACK to QTM and select the renamed file.

NO ? question marks should appear in the file name, before continuing. Thanks to member LEVI for pointing this issue out!  Cheesy
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Final notes regarding using QTM, learned from my own personal experience (and problems) while using it...

Before you start uploading your torrent with QTM, I'd advise you to STOP all your torrents in uTorrent, yet keep uTorrent running. This will insure a successful (automatic) re-download of the torrent, without uTorrent being too bogged down with it's own data processing...

In addition, there should be a "hands off the keyboard / NO Internet browsing" policy in place while QTM is performing its uploading, since this is a very data-intensive process between your computer and our website. This will minimize the chance of data loss during the uploading of picture and torrent data, over the Internet. I also shut down secondary Laptops and Mobile connections, during this process, too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Compatibility issues with uTorrent 3.4.2 build 38656 (or current beta versions) is an issue of these versions of uTorrent being incompatible with many earlier standardized Torrent creation programs, and legacy folder structures and is addressed in greater detail here: https://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=22654.0 {click here}

If you have any questions, comments and/or additional notes you feel should be added to this list, please add a reply to this topic.  Cool

Take care,
Pawpcorn with love

I also ran into the virus issue when I downloaded the program and saved it. But.... when I choose to run the program instead of saving it the program installed like a charm with no warnings from my virus software and has worked like a charm ever since.  I have a few questions though if anyone can help it will be greatly appreciated!!!!

- Do I need to quit after uploading each torrent or can I just keep uploading torrents until they are all finished being uploaded

- Is there a reason that on some torrents the pictures I choose to be uploaded are uploaded twice so there is 2 of each pic with the torrent and I know I have only added the pictures once.

- I'm not sure if I understood the fantastic explanation above, but is the program supposed to also download and start seeding?  or do I need to continue going to the site to download the torrent file and starting the seeding myself which is what I've been doing? Thank you

Interesting idea, and terrific fact!  I'll include that in the tips above!!!  Thank you!!!

I may be misunderstanding something... but if you don't quit the program... wouldn't it hold on to all the pictures, description, and categories of the prior upload?

- Is there a reason that on some torrents the pictures I choose to be uploaded are uploaded twice so there is 2 of each pic with the torrent and I know I have only added the pictures once.

I can only think that there was an earlier aborted attempt at uploading, with the same exact torrent file, that failed? During failed uploads, I've seen the pictures retained from the earlier aborted upload...

- I'm not sure if I understood the fantastic explanation above, but is the program supposed to also download and start seeding?  or do I need to continue going to the site to download the torrent file and starting the seeding myself which is what I've been doing? Thank you

Bluesurfer, your account is shown as using the BitTorrent torrent client program (as opposed to uTorrent).  KUDOS to you for managing to make the QTM program work for you and your BitTorrent... but YES, since you're not using uTorrent, you'll need to manually go and manually re-download the torrent file, and start seeding it yourself, just as you've been doing.  Only for members using uTorrent is the redownload and subsequent automatic seeding part of the QTM program achieved.

GOOD QUESTIONS and and such a helpful tip contribution TOO!!! THANK YOU!!!!

I thought that you could just delete/change the file or folder information, Category, pictures, display name and information and insert the info for the new torrent and select upload torrent rather than quitting the program and restarting and login again for each torrent.  (If that makes any sense)  Smiley

Yup, if you'd rather delete all that stuff, rather that quit QTM and log on again, I'm sure that would work just fine...  Cheesy

I'm trying to help my friend install his quick torrent maker.  The exe got downloaded but when it's clicked, it says it doesn't have a compatible windows and he has to switch to 32 or 64 bit or something.  His windows is 7.  So it doesn't even reach the installation process.  What's wrong?

Rather than paraphrasing the error message, what is the exact wording of the error message, please?

And what's his OS, 32 bit or 64 bit?

Thanks for the reply.

He has a Windows 7 Home Premium.  At 64 bit operating system.

I'll ask him for what it says exactly.

Edit - it says:

"The version of this file is not compatible w/ the version of Windows you're running. Ck your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64 bit) version then contact the software publisher."

Right, QTM has shown itself as being incompatable with the 64 bit version of Windows, sorry to say...

Might have something to do with the signature of QTM, you could try...

Quote
Step 1: Run Command Prompt with elevated rights.

Run Command Prompt with administrative privileges. to do that:

In Windows 8 or 8.1:

Right-click at the lower left corner and from the menu appears choose Command Prompt (Admin)
Ask Yes at User Account Control (UAC) warning message.

In Windows 7.

Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories.
Right-click at Command Prompt and click Run As Administrator.
Ask Yes at User Account Control (UAC) warning message.

Step 2: Disable driver signature enforcement.

Important: If your BIOS supports Secure Boot, then DISABLE it.

In command prompt window, type these commands in order. (Press Enter after each command)

    bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
    bcdedit /set testsigning on

Disable Driver Signature

    Restart your computer.
Install the unsigned driver or program.

That’s it.

If you want to enable signature enforcement to protect your computer from been infected, then open Command Prompt (with administrative rights) and type these commands in order:

    bcdedit -set loadoptions DENABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
    bcdedit /set testsigning off

Enable_Driver_Signature

    Restart your computer.

Ah, I think this is amazing advice, and... speaking to the member above (with the friend with Windows7 64bit)... if your friend DOES try these steps, please DO respond back here in this thread, to let us know the results... of both the Installation... and subsequent Operation of the program (ie did everything work ok, afterwards?)

Thanks,

Ok, will try Popper's run command prompts stuff first when I visit my friend.  Then will try the online upload.  Hope it works.  Will update, yes.

It took a while for me to return to my friend's place but I tried the run command disabling thing.  Well, the 'version of this file is not compatible' isn't appearing but when we double click to install the qtm, it says the usual 'run or not' then the...

Choose site
Login
Password

...appears. The 'Welcome to Quick torrent maker Installation !
Choose your installation destination....'  installing window doesn't appear at all.

Even with the proper password and log in entered, the prompt says 'connecting...' then Log In incorrect.

So there's nothing to be done now about this?

(I'll enable Popper's run command thing after)

I can't help feeling just trying the simple steps in a manual upload would be less hassle.

It really is easy (after the first one) Smiley

It often takes repeated tries to log in successfully.

This happens to be a {yet another} standard issue with QTM, sorry!

Hi, Jerod,

Hey, did your friend ever manage to make QTM work using Popper's suggestion???

re https://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=26015.msg239900#new

I mentioned earlier about sometimes needing to try to login repeatedly being a common issue with QTM...

Did he try to login repeatedly???

Did it work?

He tried logging in several times but was always 'login incorrect', yeah.
