Not most likely, but just likely.

Well, if the study described here (original article) is correct, then i'd have to say that it's likely.

I dont believe that. Homophobia is something that is teached by others, there is necessarily nothing to do to the inner feelings of someone. I was not a homophobic child

I believe it's a lie we tell ourselves.

I think people who are homophobic usually are straight (unless they're republican politicians or something). I'm transphobic but I hate anything girly. Guys who have been homophobic to me I've never gotten the vibe that they wanted to have sex with guys. But honestly I see more homphobia from women anyways. They're always fake or catty or think they can say offensive things and no one will call them out on their bullshit. Most men live with the idea that they could be punched for something mean they say but women never have that so they just act terrible.

Honestly I wonder sometimes if it's the straight guys who claim to be gay friendly that are really closet cases or bi curious. I went out drinking with a male co-worker who was needling me trying to get me to admit I'm gay and for some reason he brought up that he'd been to a gay bar before with gay friends...it made me think he was closeted or bi more than a potential straight confidant honestly.

I never believed it to be the case.

Having said that, there is one guy I am 100 per cent sure is gay. Lately he has been exceptionally homophobic. For example, he has been telling his friend that Hitler was right when it came to the gays at least, that it's an illness that people need cured off, ect. He was always

1) Recently he was caught at a house party, high as fuck, naked and with a toothbrush up his butt.  (Maybe he was just in to arseplay).kinda homophobic. When my flatmate and I started watching Will and Grace one day, he left and went to another friend giving off saying "Those two queers are over there watching Will and Grace. I bet they're sucking each other dicks and stuff".
A few things I know about this guy.
2) He was letting my flatmate (also a gay) massage him one night after a drinking session. He said to my gay flatmate that if the third friend was not asleep in the other room, he would totally go there right now.
3) One friend of ours bought a pile of videos from a website. They came in a package and seemed to be all random porn. The guy I was suspect was gay when the parcel was opened. Straight friend threw the gay porn into the bin. When he went to put something in the bin later and after my gay suspect was gone, the gay porn was also gone from the bin.
4) Has recently began seeing a girl. He can't stand her and cannot seem to get an erection for her.

The moment I met this guy, I was suspected he was gay. Before all the above stuff happened, before he started getting super homophobic.
I got the same feeling from this guy that I got from one guy I met before who was in complete denial that he was gay until he left town and suddenly he's gay!

I believe now that MAYBE a small minority of homophobes are like the guy above but in no way at all, would I say they all/many/most/alot are homophobic homos.

It might just be sheer coincidence on whether guys who are homophobic are hiding something.

It could be their way of hiding their homosexual feelings.

When I was in High School, most of the homophobic bullies at my school, for some reason couldn't leave me the fuck alone. They would do very sadistic things to me and I didn't get that shit.

For someone that hates gays, you are always around me, and teasing me, and acting like a little girl around me.

Other times it could just be lack of education or to fit in with guy code, that guys are told to stay away from homosexuals. So that's where the homophobic comes in by alerting them to stay away from you.

I don't know.

Most homophobic people usually display a sort of sexual inclination to homosexuality.  I think culturally they find themselves embarrassed of something they can't control and their culture or hometown viewpoint has been slanted that homosexuality is a horrible thing and full of damnation. They become so self loathing they do anything to put themselves as far away from something they are so drawn to.  How often have you seen republican representatives who have stood against everything for gay rights, only to find them exposed with a gay lover on a holiday somewhere "remote'?
The other percentage that probably just do anything to attack someone of minority are either assholes or so self destructive or have such low self image they need anything they can to make themselves feel better. Or both. They could be both.
