As opposed to what, every other President we've had? Comparatively, Obama's been great.

He broke the color barrier, but he also wasted a lot of potential.

He did some good, but he also did a lot of bad.

He is the proof that there is such thing as the flip side of a coin...regardless of the mathematical probability.

So, basically, you just created a thread to let everyone know you think he's a mass murderer and war criminal? Classy.

Everyone has a right to their own opinion.

It's also proper Netiquette because the OP gave his opinion as well, not just the question.

Considering he is objectively one of the most successfully progressive, diplomatically and economically beneficial presidents we've had in decades, probably pretty damn good.

Seriously, I would love to know what the hell you people are hearing and from where to get this nonsense in your head that he's somehow Black Hitler.

Well, despite his promise to the contrary, he expanded GWB's warrantless spying on US citizens.

He promised to protect whistleblowers, yet he did the complete opposite.

He played the "race baiting" game like we saw with BLM.

He refused to say "radical muslims" when talking about islamic terror attacks.

He, like most US Presidents, pandered to the illegals.

He was willing to throw LGBTs under the bus for personal political gain.   While a state level politico, he supported equality including marriage for LGBTs.  When he ran for the US Senate, he forgot that he supported equality for us.

It's things like this that cause me not to like him.

As the Benedict Arnold of Presidents.
He betrayed his country, his race and (ultimately) himself.

He also did more to eliminate nuclear threats than anyone, retiring dangerous stockpiles around the world. And more to address the dangers of climate change than any other president. He has preserved more land and sea area from exploitation and destruction than anyone. Saved the auto industry-- which is to say, when US manufacturing was on the brink of destruction, he pulled it back. Saved the US economy at the same time after it was damn' near run over a cliff.

In fact, while the lo-info voters so beloved of Putin's presidential pick think otherwise, he not only was elected twice by majorities, but retrieved a collapsing economy from the abyss. The longest sustained period of job growth in US history. Great Wall Street profits. Great increase in incomes. And crime is dramatically down, down, down, just like inflation.

Also, though the usual suspects claim otherwise, more people have affordable health care than ever before in the U.S. While Obama was preceded by a man who started a completely unnecessary war and abandoned his own declared purpose of not letting Osama Bin Laden get away with his famous attack, a man who turned an economic surplus into a massive deficit that was nearly the end of the country itself, the economy was only one of his successful projects.

Naturally, the Kenyan Muslim usurper was blockaded from before he took the oath of office, so he might have done even better, but national survival was his first challenge. Despite the quislings now temporarily trumphant (sic), he did well enough the first time that he got another four years.

During that time, not so incidentally, he maintained peaceful relations with most of the world, including a number of countries where new turmoil is already being launched, and despite his failures, managed to have a singularly scandal-free administration. Unlike AWOL Bush, Obama has had none of his administration leaders in handcuffs or in court or in jail. No one has been accused of corruption or being on the take.

Oh, yeah, there are the Hillary hysterics, which won't pass any objective smell test, but that's it. The Clinton foundation never paid personal bills or bought bad portraits of the Clintons, and for all the fuss, not using the right e-mail address did not lead to anything approaching a crime. Compare, oh, Dick Cheney's secret oil parley at the start of the previous presidency. Or all those missing e-mails when they "fixed" the evidence for their destabilizing war.

And yet, those same lo-info votes who think unemployment is up and the economy is down also believe Hillary's e-mails are an issue because they conceal a pedophile sex ring she was operating out of a pizza parlor. And if yr not already part of the Useful Idiot Brigade, you may think I'm kidding but, in fact, the GOP Grab Our Pussy crowd really does believe Hillary is running a child sex operation, Obama hates America and wants to impose Sharia Law (another of his failures!) and, no, was NOT born in the USA.

To say Gitmo is still open or that cops still get away with murdering innocent black citizens doesn't prove Obama is a failure. Lots of stuff never got done while he was dealing with a party that thought nothing of shutting down the entire government or leaving national debts unpaid for partisan point making. All true. But that does not diminish his accomplishments, which will grow each year forever, to the extent there is anything like "forever" left once the warmongering, money grubbing planet plunderer is able to inflict his whites only fringe on the world.

Can't reason people out of stupidities that reason did not get them into. What you can do is realize the most blatantly conflicted pay-for-play grifter of all time is the one who calls her "Crooked Hillary." And he is the loser who pretends he won a majority of the popular vote. His followers even claim that he did just that. Pathetic, and, to quote Al Jolson in another context, "You ain't seen nothin' yet."

Just watch the emerging battles over gay rights and then compares what the incoming extremists will attempt in terms of undoing what the outgoing nobleman actually accomplished in that one area alone.

Quote
lo-info voters

That's a bit on the flaming side, it's typical of the left that anyone who disagrees is stupid, racist, sexist, this ist and that ist, blah blah blah.

Why is it that Obama people were supposed to vote their race and if they weren't black they were supposed to vote for him anyway.    People were supposed to vote their vagina when Hillary ran and if they didn't have a vagina, they were supposed to vote for her anyway.

I'm a white man, but for the last 20 years I've been voting for a hetero black woman as my Congresswoman.     Using liberal logic, shouldn't I only vote for CIS gay white men?

He made it possible for every American to get healthcare.  This is obviously his biggest accomplishment which is why the disgusting Republicans are trying to undo it.  They would rather see you die in the street than acknowledge that Obama did a good thing.

Obama has been an absolute failure, with two notable exceptions. One, he is an excellent gun salesman. In 2008 there were 4.5 million guns manufactured in the United States, rising to 10.8 million in 2013. Two, he has been pretty good at electing Republicans. Since Obama's time in office, Republicans have gained 9 seats in the senate, 62 in the house, 12 governorships, and 958 seats in state legislatures.

YES, Obama-care is the only insurance that is gender blind when it comes to cost, which greatly benefits women.   Maybe we should have gotten Obama-drive and Obama-life as well so men can get a bit of gender equality.

I think he'll go down as an intelligent, reasonably progressive president, who was opposed at every step by an increasingly radicalized right wing Republican party.  His biggest fault was perhaps his naivete at just how low the Republicans would go to prevent him from having any successes.

Alternately, he won't go down in history as anything, since history may end once Trump gets his hands on the nuclear codes 20 days from now...

Anyone who's watched Brexit and the US Presidential election aftermath will see a curious thing.

The losing side (liberals) are now claiming that the world will end or we'll have the next holocaust because of either of these votes.   They are no different than the far right believers that are spouting that it's the end-times.

It's kind of odd that not many of you have brought this topic up yet given that most of us are gay, but since I am gay and was able to get married in late 2015, I'd say President Obama will go down in history as the president who did not argue against the Supreme Court's ruling on gay marriage that year. Nearly all the Republicans (with a few exceptions) running for president criticized the court for that ruling, believing state's should determine if same-sex couples should be allowed to get married; which means the overwhelming majority of the country's lawmakers would have continued denying the right for same-sex couples. You can make the argument that President Obama flip-flopped on gay marriage, but you simply cannot leave out the fact that an overwhelming majority of Americans did not want to see gays receive rights until recent years and had previously overwhelmingly preferred a constitutional ban on gay marriage. Also he will be seen as the president who let same-sex couples bring their children to the White House Easter Eggroll and take part in many other traditions at the White House, something I hope the Trump White House will continue to do as it shows same-sex couples and their families are just as important as any other family. If not, then that would be unfortunate; especially given some of the things Vice President-Elect Mike Pence has said and done over the years.

Either way, I'm grateful that I was able to marry the man I've loved since the day I met him in 2012 and that we can share the many benefits and privileges that comes with marriage. Unlike the millions of people who wished from day one that President Obama would fail (including Mitch McConnell who famously called for and carried out total obstruction in the U.S. Senate from 2011-present), I wish Trump luck because if he is successful then I believe the country will be successful. However, if he and the Republicans begin talks of challenging the Supreme Court's ruling then that will be highly upsetting as it will put my current situation in limbo. I do agree people are speaking as if the world is about to end without even waiting to see what will be done LOL. For all we know, Mike Pence could pull an about-face and welcome the LGBT community into the White House. He'd probably lose millions of supporters for it but he'd also gain some new ones.
