Tomorrow is the big day in Asia, then shortly after the world gets our sloppy seconds.
What are you doing for the new year? How about eve? The stroke of midnight? Do you get a few days off, or is it back to work?
Myself, I'm an American in Japan but I celebrate at a native level: Osetchi, Kohaku, family/friends, shrines. I'll be hosting a home party tomorrow where we'll do the traditional eat, drink, and watch a TV show called kohaku. We'll stay up to watch the first sunrise then head over, by train, a temple and shrine where we'll get our fortunes for the year. I'm looking forward to it. The following three days people come over to eat and drink. New Years is one of the few times you can drink for breakfast and not get an intervention.
So what are your plans?
