I have a pretty good gaydar.
What’s funny is that when someone says they’re gay (either directly or indirectly), my friends would be like “OMGZ I HAD NO IDEAAAA!!!! I WOULD HAVE NEVER THOUGHT HE WAS GAAAAAYYY!!!!!” In my mind, I’m like “yeah, I could see it. Doesn’t surprise me” so I think my gaydar is more accurate than the average person.

Back in the late 90s I figured out that I have good Queerdar. About 5 guys I identified as to myself as being Gay (over a couple of years) came out as Transwomen. So, I can pick up something with men or women that might end up being Trans or Bisexuality or Gayness but I'm not neccesarily good at distinguishing 'Gay' in particular. Except for celebrities - I even figured out Dumbledore from the books.

My gaydar is dreadful. Occasionally, though, it may wind up being right. However, because it is so dreadful I never really act upon it.

Not at all. I told my boss I was gay years ago now - and he had invited me out with him and his mates one night (which id refused at the time). It was only later everyone else told me he was. And it was so obvious looking back

My gaydar works best with people around my own (middle) age. Under 25, I find it more difficult to be certain.
Maybe that's a good thing, as more guys, both straight and gay, become more confident in living their own truth, and being comfortable with their emotions, rather than valuing conformity above all, as in generations past.

Not really. It usually depends, if they're people who have similar interestst, then it works, but other than that.
