Hi, Male, 20

Well, I came out like a year ago to my mom, and she accepted me and told me it was okay, besides the usual stuff when coming out: tears, how she feels like she failed, and how she loves me...

But since I feel strange when homosexuality gets mentioned in any way, it's like everyone acts like they know i'm gay but get silent or just change the topic.

Have you ever experienced something like that? Any advices on how to improve the environment?

BTW I'm not american nor a native english speaker so excuse me if i said something wrong haha

It was like that with my family but they got used to it over time. It's a non-issue now.

These things need time.  Your original post was over one year ago, and I would like to know how things are today.

And your English is very good  Smiley

It took years for things to "normalise" at home for me. My Mum would make these comments and have certain ideas. But my brothers and sisters would take her to task so I was very lucky and over time she came around =)
