But while a daily jog might be what your mind needs, is running every day bad for your body? ... As a general rule, the American Council On Exercise recommends that you run for 20-30 minutes three days a week, and take rest days on the other days. Any more than that is often difficult to sustain, especially for beginners.

Generally no. I am a runner, I run 4 times a week. If you plan on running everyday, there are things to consider, like your hydration, stretching, vitamins, minerals, your gaits, the type of shoes you run with, are you flat footed or do you have high arches?, are you pigeon-toed, or do your feet over-pronate?, do you run heavy footed or light? These are just a few thing to really think about if you decide to run everyday because you can put major stress onto your joins especially your knees if your body alignment is out. Otherwise stick to 2 to three times a week if you not sure of any of the above that I have mentioned. Your body will tell you anyway, you'll feel it. Hope this helped in anyway. Smiley

Bump.  So much to consider. Definitely listen to your body. And get proper shoes.  And remember, as you age--the knees are usually the first to start showing signs.

You need at least 1 rest day a week, for the body to rebuild and recover.
Speaking from experience. I've done 6 full marathons, 6 half marathons in the past 3 years.

What the American Council On Exercise  recommends - that's probably the bare minimum. I'm usually doing about 90 mins x 5 days. And I'm not even Boston ready. That's probably a stretch goal, in 3-5 years.

Definitely listen to your body.

This is most important part!
